Gentle Yoga with Cindy Von Miller
Sundays from 6-7:30pm
Yogic breathing and classical yoga poses are taught with attention to technique and therapeutic alignment.
All of Cindy’s classes begin with a centering meditation and end with therapeutic relaxation.
The Instructor is Cindy von Miller, a Registered Nurse with 500 hours of yoga teachers training and years
of in-depth yoga experience.
All levels are welcome.
Cindy has been studying, practicing and teaching yoga and meditation for over 30 years. She draws upon all of her knowledge and experience and attends to individual needs even in group classes. She believes that classical yoga provides the theory and the practical tools for creating health and wellness. Cindy’s vision is to use the tools of yoga to address the issue of illness prevention and to empower people to make healthy lifestyle choices.
Cindy’s first yoga teacher – Alvina Havercamp created her own method of yoga practice and instruction based on experience as a dancer, an artist,a woman suffering from a chronic and fatal illness and her studies at the Himalayan Institute and with BKS Iyengar. Cindy attended yoga classes with Alvina in New Orleans, Louisiana, and weeklong retreats in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico from1981 until 1994. She attended Yoga Teachers Training at Kripalu Center for Yoga and Health in Lenox, Massachusetts in 1995. In 2007 she completed an additional 300 hours of training in yoga therapy and Ayurveda. In 2011 she completed Principal Based Partner Yoga training with Elysabeth Williamson and Christin Staszensky. She has studied with Nischala Joy Devi, Gary Krafstow, Doug Keller, Becky Jordan, Jason Lobo and Douglas Brooks.
In 1983, Cindy graduated from Touro Infirmary School of Nursing and began her career as a Registered Nurse. She completed her BSN at the University of West Florida in Pensacola. Cindy went on to work in Critical Coronary Care, Emergency Trauma, Obstetrics and College Health. She has been involved in nursing management and nursing education. She has worked as a travel nurse throughout the United States and has participated in medical mission work in South America. Currently she works part-time at the Heart Hospital of Austin.
