Mindfulness Meditation for Beginners

Saturday, February 15th from 10am - 1pm

“Mindfulness means paying attention in a particular way: on purpose, in the present moment, and nonjudgmentally.”~ Jon Kabat-Zinn.

This class will introduce the basic principles of mindfulness meditation with focus on mindfulness of breath, body, and thoughts. Meditation is a technique used to develop a awareness of what’s actually happening instead of being lost in the incessant chatter of our minds which leads to stress, anxiety, and other negative states. By learning to rest in the present moment, we can become less reactive to difficult experiences and cultivate more calm and ease. With a peaceful mind we feel a greater joy for life

There will be a 30 minute lunch break so feel free to bring a sack lunch.

We have cushions, chairs and backjack available. If you have your own meditation cushion, please feel free to bring it.

Kelli Cotner, CPCC

Trained through the MBSR Teacher Training, at Brown University Mindfulness Center and the Center for Mindfulness (CFM) with the University of Massachusetts Medical School, she is a Brown University Level 1 MBSR Teacher offering the full 8 week Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction course, a secular and evidence-based stress reduction program developed by Jon Kabat Zinn, PhD.

She has attended over 25 trainings and silent retreats with renowned teachers like Joseph Goldstein, Pema Chodron, Jack Kornfield, Tara Brach, Sharon Salzberg and many more. She’s passionate about meditation, the Dharma and loves sharing these powerful teachings that have profoundly impacted her life.

Kelli is also Certified Professional Coach and Leadership graduate through the Co-Active Training Institute. She is the owner of True Nature Life Coaching and has been coaching people in living intentionally, wide awake and true to their nature for over 14 years.
