What is a Deathwalker?
Our definition of a Deathwalker is:
• a person who walks their own journey towards their death as openly, courageously and as best they can.
• a person who walks with, or accompanies someone else in their death journey,
i.e. the dying person, family or friends.
Offering guidance and care to inform, empower and enable them to be as open, courageous and the best they can.
The Training is over 3 days and covers the whole spectrum including illness, dying & death, sudden death, body care, disposal, ceremony into bereavement and loss. A hybrid of old and new ways of being present, real and beneficial at a challenging time.
“Death is the natural and sacred end of life – one certainty that every human being will experience, yet something we are often unfamiliar with. A Deathwalker is someone who can accompany the dying person and the bereaved through their journey.”
Available and appropriate for everyone – for your own personal journey, a family member or friend, to increase professional skills or if you feel you have a calling to some or all aspects of this work.
By nurturing, enhancing and strengthening your inherent capacity and gaining legal and practical knowledge and skills, any concerns or fears can be transformed. This allows you and others to make preferred and informed choices during the various stages of the death and dying process.
Everyone has the capacity and courage to do death well. Each of us bring our own rich life experience and this training honours and builds on the awareness and strength that we are all intrinsically have to do this work for ourselves and others.
